Why a Concrete Tiled Swimming Pool Is the Superior Choice in Thailand

If you're searching for the best swimming pool builder in Thailand, you've probably seen many different pool finishes, including fiberglass pools, vinyl liner pools, painted concrete, PebbleCrete, quartz finishes and, of course, traditional reinforced concrete swimming pools with ceramic tiles.

So why do we continue building every swimming pool in reinforced concrete with a fully tiled finish?

The answer is simple.

We believe concrete and ceramic tiles offer the best combination of beauty, durability, design freedom and long-term value. Every pool finish has its place, but in Thailand, we believe ceramic tile remains the superior choice.

  • Crystal Clear Water
  • Elegant Blue Finish
  • Modern Pool Design
  • Tropical Paradise
  • Premium Craftsmanship
  • Timeless Beauty

Every Pool Finish Has a Purpose

Before I continue, I want to make one thing clear.

I'm not saying fiberglass, vinyl liners or painted finishes are "bad." They all have advantages and can be the right solution in certain situations.

In countries such as Australia, the United States and much of Europe, skilled labour is expensive and experienced tile installers are becoming harder to find. Installing thousands of ceramic tiles takes time, and time costs money.

That's why alternative pool finishes became popular. Fiberglass shells, vinyl liners and painted finishes reduce labour costs and shorten construction time.

These systems weren't developed because ceramic tiles were a poor choice.

They were developed because skilled labour became expensive.

Why a Concrete Tiled Swimming Pool Makes Sense in Thailand

Thailand is different.

We have highly skilled craftsmen who have been installing ceramic tiles for generations. Labour costs are also far lower than in many Western countries, making tiled swimming pools much more affordable.

We also have excellent access to quality ceramic tiles, waterproofing systems, adhesives and grouts.

So instead of avoiding tiles, why not take advantage of one of Thailand's greatest strengths?

That has always been our philosophy.

We Build Swimming Pools Across Isaan

We build swimming pools throughout Northeast Thailand (Isaan), including Sakon Nakhon, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Buriram, Kalasin, Nakhon Phanom, Roi Et, Surin, Loei and Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat).

No matter where we build, our standards remain the same.

Every customer deserves quality construction and careful attention to detail.

Beauty That Lasts

A swimming pool is often the centrepiece of a home.

It should still look beautiful twenty or thirty years from now.

Ceramic tiles offer almost unlimited choices of colours, textures and styles. Whether you prefer modern grey tones, classic blue mosaics or a Bali-inspired finish, tiles provide complete design freedom.

If a tile is ever damaged, it can usually be replaced without rebuilding the entire pool surface.

That's one of the biggest long-term advantages of a tiled pool.

Complete Design Freedom

Reinforced concrete allows almost unlimited design possibilities.

  • Infinity edge pools

  • Overflow pools

  • Skimmer pools

  • Integrated Jacuzzis

  • Beach entries

  • Curved walls

  • Large resort pools

  • Compact courtyard pools

Every pool is built specifically for the customer's property rather than being limited by a factory mould.

My Experience with Fiberglass Pools in Thailand

This is based on my own experience after many years in the swimming pool industry.

I actually used to sell fiberglass pools.

Eventually, I stopped.

The main reason was quality.

Many fiberglass pools I saw in Thailand developed fading and discoloration of the gelcoat after only a few years in the tropical climate.

I was also concerned about the installation methods. Many fiberglass pools are lowered into the excavation and backfilled with sand. Over time, I've seen some of these pools move with ground settlement—something far less likely with a properly engineered reinforced concrete structure.

Another concern was the equipment included in many package deals. To keep prices low, many installations used smaller filters, basic pumps and lower-quality valves and accessories.

Can you build an excellent fiberglass pool with premium materials and equipment?

Absolutely.

But in my experience, that is not what is most commonly offered in Thailand.

A Great Swimming Pool Is More Than the Surface

The pool finish is only one part of the project.

The equipment behind the scenes is just as important.

That's why we use professional equipment, including Emaux salt chlorinators, quality filtration systems and correctly sized pumps.

Many customers also choose to add an ozone generator, which helps improve water clarity and reduce chlorine demand.

Good equipment costs more initially, but usually saves money over the life of the pool through improved reliability and lower maintenance.

The Most Important Number in Any Swimming Pool

If I had to choose one thing that determines how long a swimming pool lasts, it wouldn't be the tiles or even the concrete.

It would be water chemistry.

More specifically...

The pH level.

Many people blame stains, fading or surface damage on the pool finish, but poor water balance is often the real cause.

Low pH makes the water aggressive and can slowly damage grout, concrete, metals and equipment.

High pH reduces chlorine efficiency and encourages calcium scale to form on tiles, salt cells, heaters and plumbing.

Whether your pool is fiberglass, painted, vinyl lined or tiled, neglected water chemistry will eventually cause problems.

That's why we spend so much time helping our customers maintain the correct pH and water balance.

We Build for the Long Term

Our philosophy is simple.

We are not trying to build the cheapest swimming pool.

We are building the swimming pool we would be proud to own ourselves.

That means:

  • Reinforced concrete construction

  • Ceramic tile finishes

  • Professional waterproofing

  • Premium plumbing

  • High-quality equipment

  • Emaux filtration and salt chlorination

  • Optional ozone water treatment

  • Careful workmanship from start to finish

A quality pool costs more to build, but it should only need to be built once.

Our Conclusion

There will always be different opinions in the swimming pool industry.

Some customers want the lowest price.

Others want the fastest installation.

We build for customers who want the best long-term value.

Thailand already has skilled craftsmen, quality materials and decades of experience with ceramic tile construction.

Instead of replacing ceramic tiles with finishes that became popular mainly because of high labour costs elsewhere in the world, we choose to take advantage of what Thailand already does exceptionally well.

That's why every swimming pool we build is reinforced concrete, professionally waterproofed, finished with ceramic tiles, equipped with Emaux salt chlorinators, and available with advanced ozone water treatment.

We don't believe a swimming pool should be built to be the cheapest.

We believe it should be built to last.
