Our First Pool with 30 × 60 cm Tiles: Trying Something Different

Every swimming pool project gives us a chance to try something new. For this project, we decided to work with 30 × 60 cm pool tiles, which are much larger than the tiles we normally use.

This was our first time installing tiles of this size throughout a swimming pool, so we knew from the beginning that it would be a different experience for our team.

Working with Larger Pool Tiles

Large-format pool tiles can create a completely different look compared with smaller tiles. With fewer grout lines and larger surfaces, they can give the pool a clean and modern appearance.

But bigger does not always mean easier.

During installation, we quickly found that working with 30 × 60 cm pool tiles requires careful preparation. Each tile is larger and needs to be positioned correctly to keep the lines and spacing consistent.

For our team, this meant taking more time with each section instead of rushing the process.

Learning as We Go

Because this was our first pool using tiles this large, the installation did not move as quickly as our usual tile work.

There were new things for us to consider, from applying the tile adhesive to positioning and leveling each piece. Around corners, pool fittings, lights and the curved areas of the pool, the tiles also needed additional cutting and adjustment.

It may not have been the easiest tile installation we have done, but that is part of trying something new.

Every project teaches us something, and the experience from this pool will make working with larger tiles easier and more efficient on future projects.

  • Preparing each large tile before installation.
  • Getting the alignment right from the beginning.
  • The new tile pattern starting to bring the pool to life.

Seeing the Pool Come Together

Once more of the tiles were installed, we started to see why this design was worth the extra work.

The different shades and patterns of blue create variation across the walls and floor, while the larger rectangular tiles give the pool a distinctive appearance compared with the smaller tiles we normally work with.

The curved steps were another interesting part of this project. The tiles had to be cut and fitted around the shape while keeping the overall design consistent with the rest of the pool.

Seeing everything come together after the slower installation process has been very satisfying for our team.

Trying Something New Is Part of the Job

Not every new method is going to feel easy the first time.

For us, this project was a chance to gain experience with large-format pool tiles and understand how they behave during installation. The first one takes time, but the knowledge stays with us for the next project.

We are happy with what we are seeing so far, and we are really excited to see how this one turns out once it’s all wrapped up.

We build it – You enjoy it – Quality always wins.

  • A different tile size, a new experience, and a result we’re happy to see.
  • Different shades and patterns create a unique finish across the pool.
  • Large tiles required extra cutting and adjustment around the curved steps.
