What Makes a Swimming Pool Last 20+ Years in Thailand?
When you build a swimming pool in Thailand, it should not only look beautiful on the day it is finished. If you want a swimming pool to last 20 years in Thailand, the quality of the construction, materials and equipment is important from the first day.
The real question is: Will it still be a good swimming pool 10, 15 or 20 years from now?
At Sakon Swimmingpool, we believe long life comes from doing many small things correctly from the beginning. Some of the most important parts of a swimming pool will never be seen again after construction is finished.
Strong Swimming Pool Foundation Swimming Pool Foundation Construction Building a Pool from the Ground Up
A Strong Foundation and Double Rebar
Everything starts with precise excavation and a strong foundation.
Our concrete swimming pools are reinforced with double layers of 12 mm rebar. The steel structure is one of the most important parts of the pool because it must handle thousands of tons of pressure over its lifetime from the water, soil and movement around the pool.
We don't believe this is the place to save money.
High-Quality Concrete
Concrete quality is another area where we don't compromise.
We use high-quality concrete from well-known and trusted suppliers. A swimming pool is permanently holding a large amount of water, so the concrete structure needs to be built correctly from the beginning.

SCG High-Pressure PVC Plumbing
Most swimming pool plumbing eventually disappears underneath concrete, tiles and soil.
That means you really don't want problems with it later.
We use high-quality SCG PVC pipes and fittings, designed to handle high pressure and provide a long service life. We also prefer a simple plumbing design with as few unnecessary connections as possible.
Simple and strong normally wins.

Crocodile Products Made for Swimming Pools
Waterproofing, tile adhesive and grout are extremely important in a tiled concrete swimming pool.
We use Crocodile products specifically designed for swimming pools, including professional waterproofing, flexible tile adhesive and high-quality pool grout.
Good tiles are important, but what is behind the tiles is even more important.

Proven Equipment in the Pump Room
We prefer equipment that we know from experience.
We use proven Emaux swimming pool equipment, including pumps, variable-speed pumps, sand filters and saltwater chlorinators.
Whenever possible, we prefer to slightly oversize important equipment. A larger filter or equipment that doesn't constantly need to operate at its maximum capacity can make the system easier to maintain and help provide a long working life.
We also use Zelbrite filter media and high-quality underwater LED swimming pool lights.
Saltwater + Ozone
Our standard swimming pools are saltwater pools, and we increasingly combine saltwater chlorination with ozone.
The ozone helps oxidize contaminants in the water, while the saltwater chlorinator maintains the chlorine level.
This combination can reduce the workload on the chlorinator and help us maintain clean, clear water with less dependence on additional chemicals.
For the customer, the goal is simple: healthy water and an easy swimming pool to maintain.
High-quality PVC plumbing is an important part of every swimming pool pump room. A clean and simple pump room design makes the swimming pool easier to operate, maintain and service. Correct pipe sizing, quality fittings and professional installation help prevent problems for many y
Simple Automation
We like technology, but technology should make owning a swimming pool easier—not more complicated.
Variable-speed pumps, timers, saltwater chlorination and other automation should be easy for the owner to understand and easy for a technician to service.
We believe a simple, proven system will normally provide better long-term reliability than making a pump room unnecessarily complicated.
Our Own Workforce
Another important difference is that we use our own workers instead of subcontracting the swimming pool construction to different companies.
The same company is responsible for the excavation, steel, concrete structure, plumbing, waterproofing, tiling and installation of the swimming pool equipment.
That gives us much better control over the quality from the first day until we hand over the finished pool.
Service After the Pool Is Finished
Building the swimming pool is only the beginning of its life.
Correct water chemistry and regular maintenance protect the tiles, grout, salt chlorinator, pumps, filters and other equipment.
Our pools can also be maintained by our own experienced swimming pool service technicians. They know the equipment, understand water chemistry and know what to look for before a small problem becomes an expensive one.
Quality Matters When a Swimming Pool Must Last 20 Years in Thailand
There are many ways to make a swimming pool cheaper during construction.
Use less steel. Buy cheaper PVC. Choose cheaper waterproofing. Install smaller equipment. Use unknown machinery. Subcontract everything to the cheapest workers.
You may save money today.
But most of these things are hidden when the swimming pool is finished.
We prefer to build for the next 20 years.
We build it – You enjoy it – Quality always wins.
